Introductions

Writing an Introduction

The introduction should start by presenting a broad view of your topic, and narrow down gradually to the thesis statement, or main argument or purpose of the paper.

Capture the readers’ interest in the first paragraph, andshow them what the paper will be about, ending with your thesis statement.

A good introduction stays on topic and prepares the reader for the rest of the paper.
