Overview

Curricular Innovation grants are available from the Extension Office to support instructors who wish to participate in research exploring eLearning and/or emerging best practices/methodologies in teaching.

Eligibility

Extension instructors who have taught for a minimum of two semesters are eligible with Dean approval.

Summary: Bricks + Clicks is an online six‐week pedagogy course designed for Otis College Extension instructors who wish to learn/ consider/ integrate/ reflect upon both pedagogy and best practices of teaching tech‐enhanced, blended (hybrid), or fully online courses. The pedagogies and technologies presented and discussed in this course are not discipline-specific and can be applied in regular face-to-face instruction..

Offering: Bricks + Clicks is offered once a semester.

Requirements:

  • Participation in and completion of an online six-week asynchronous pedagogy course called "Bricks + Clicks."
  • The total time commitment for this course is approximately 3-5 hours per week including required coursework.
  • You will be expected to keep up with all course readings and postings, as well as interact with fellow “students” and reflect upon your experiential learning.

Successful completion of Bricks + Clicks is required of all instructors who wish to teach eLearning courses at Otis College.

Completion of Bricks + Clicks does not guarantee that you may teach an eLearning course. The Extension Dean determines which and how many eLearning courses are offered.

Upon successful completion, faculty are awarded a grant of $500.00. Completion is determined by course participation.

Requirements:

  • Meeting regularly with the College's Instructional Designer to develop this course.
  • You must submit the eLearning course proposal within 3 months of finishing Bricks + Clicks.
  • The Extension department must approve offering the course at which time you will receive a stipend regardless of the class meeting enrollment. 
  • The stipend is only offered one-time.
