Jean-Marie is the Instructional Designer and Assistant Director of the Teaching/Learning Center at Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles.

EDUCATION

  • M.S. in Instructional Design & Technology from CSU Fullerton
  • M.F.A. from Otis College of Art and Design in Creative Writing
  • B.F.A from Loyola Marymount University in Classics and Classical Civilizations.

TEACHING

She has been teaching in the Liberal Arts and Sciences department at Otis College since 2006. She currently teaches:

  • LIBS 114/214 Identity in Time Travel (Online)
  • Bricks and Clicks: The How-Tos of eLearning (Online)

CURRENT PUBLICATIONS

Include co-authoring two articles with Dr. Parme Giuntini:

  • "Learning By Doing: Using ePortfolios for Assessment at Otis College of Art and Design" published in Volume 31 Issue 7 of Library Hi Tech News
  • a chapter for the Great Big MOOC Book, entitled "Hijacking the MOOC: Reflections on Creating/Teaching an Art History MOOC," which includes reflections on the experience of launching a MOOC as well as the MOOCs role in Higher Education.

PRESENTATIONS

Most recently, she co-presented at the 2016 OLC Innovate conference in New Orleans as part of their Solutions Design Summit on the subject of overcoming barriers and resistance to training/development programs.

AREAS OF SUPPORT

Jean-Marie provides assistance to ALL Faculty who want to teach online, blended, and technology-enhanced courses. She has a wide ranging expertise with instructional technology tools including O-Space.


 

Natalie in Production Studio

Natalie Arps-Bumbera

Natalie is the Teaching/Learning Center Assistant at Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles. 

In the TLC, Natalie will be providing assistance and training to faculty in instructional technology tools and O-Space.‚Äč She also has extensive experience in video production and editing gained while working in the Film and TV industry at Sundance Film Festival, DreamWorks SKG, PBS/KCET, and Film Independent. She is an expert resource for faculty interested in developing their own video learning objects for their courses and provides support in the use of the TLC production studio.

  • Digital and traditional film pre-production (script, shot list, schedule, budget, locations, props/costume, talent),
  • Production (lighting, audio),
  • Editing (iMovie, Final Cut Pro).
  • O-space and ePortfolios (design, best practices, troubleshooting).
  • eLearning (course and content design, best practices, troubleshooting, technology).  
  • Screen-casting and video /web conferencing (Zoom, Camtasia).
