The Woman's Building: History and Archive

This image archive was begun in 1997, as part of the Getty Information Institute's "Faces of L.A." Project. More than 1500 slides documenting the history of this unique L.A. Arts institution were selected, digitized, and made available through the Woman's Building site.

In the early 2000s, the Millard Sheets Library launched the Woman's Building Digital Image Archive based on those 1500 images. Over the years, it has added hundreds of scans of more slides, photographs, papers, posters, and other ephemera.

In 2016, the physical archive was transferred to the Getty Research Institute.
