The Otis SLC offers academic support in writing, reading, math, art history, and digital media through both on-campus and virtual one-on-one tutoring. We also offer academic success coaching to students seeking help developing study skills, such as time management, prioritizing tasks, and organization. Finally, we administer the ENGL 102 and 103 Writing Labs which support Developmental English and Writing in the Digital Age. We are here to support you!

 Forthcoming Spring 2023! The SLC offers workshops that will enhance student academic, writing, and/or math skills. Workshops are 1 hour and have a maximum of 10 attendees.

The Student Learning Center (SLC) strives to serve our entire population of students by providing academic support as well as facilitate students' independence and authority as learners.
It is important we respect each other's time, ensuring tutoring sessions are active in providing support while also challenging one to grow as self-managed and independent learner. In support of these efforts, the following tutoring policies will go into effect January 1, 2023:
• Students can schedule no more than 2 consecutive appointments with an SLC tutor a day, for a total of 1 hour and 40 minutes (as our appointments are each 50 minutes long).
• It will be mandatory for the tutor and the student to take a 10-minute break between any two consecutive appointments.
• Students will not be able to book more than 4 appointments per week at the SLC. If additional time is required, students can email slc@otis.edu and explain the need for additional assistance.

SLC staff will reach out should we find anyone scheduling in violation of the policies above.
