Sustainability is frequently described as including three areas social, environmental, and economic. Many sustainability projects then use these areas as a basis for evaluation according to a “triple bottom line” of social, environmental, and economic responsibility. The chart above organizes the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations into these three areas. This model is presented as an example of how to think about sustainability.
